Daniel Bryan on the deal he made with Vince McMahon to allow him to wrestle again

It has been a long road for Daniel Bryan these past few years, but he's finally back where he belongs in the WWE ring.

Bryan has suffered from a ridiculous number of concussions over the course of his professional wrestling career. He even had a lesion in his brain that resulted in a few seizures as well. After thsi, Bryan was medically suspended by WWE doctors for being eligible to compete.

He was forced to retire from in-ring competition with WWE and was moved to a non-physical role with the company as the General manager of SmackDown Live.

Recently, however, Bryan had been working very hard to get cleared by WWE doctors to allow him to return to the squared circle. He had gotten the green light from several specialists across the country, but not from WWE.

Bryan finally reached a deal with WWE's medical director - to where if he was cleared by several recommended specialists, they would clear him to return to the ring.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion was finally cleared to return just before WrestleMania 34, and he was able to work his way into a Tag Team match with Shane McMahon in which they defeated Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

With all that being said, it seems like a long conversation between Bryan and Vince McMahon also played a major role in his return to the ring.

Bryan recently did an interview on Talk Is Jericho and revealed he and Vince McMahon came to a deal that would allow him to wrestle again with some extensive medical supervision after his matches (quotes via 411 Mania):

“I had a conversation with Vince McMahon. He was pushing the hard questions about what would happen if I would get another concussion?

"I had answers for him and laid it out. I would have different concussion protocols than everyone else, and one of my pitches to him is that this happens in every sport, when guys get a concussion and a trainer goes over to him and they are asked if they are okay, and the guy would say that he is fine.

"They would ask if he has a concussion, and the guy would say no, he’s fine. Myself included would say that. So, stop that because that has been an issue with me before.

"In the past, when I would have a concussion I would just walk it off,” Bryan said.

“My proposal would be that after every match I have to go to the trainer’s room and they have to do their checks, and if I don’t do it maybe I get a fine, or something like that.

"After every match now I get checked. Not even thanking my opponents, after WrestleMania, I walked to Gorilla.

"No thank you’s to anybody, just walked straight to the Doctor’s and then I get checked. They do basic neurological stuff, and we are revising that as we go because it is new to them too.”
