Because he’s been on the scene for a few years now, it’s sometimes easy to forget that Marcus Rashford is still just 20 years old.The Manchester United forward, who has already played 122 games for his club plus 17 matches for England, is still just a kid learning his trade. But because of the incredible talent that he possesses, and because of what he’s produced over the past two-and-a-half seasons, there’s huge expectation and pressure to perform on his young shoulders. Some Man Utd fans feared for Rashford’s future when Jose Mourinho was appointed Louis van Gaal’s successor in the summer of 2016.Mourinho’s track record with young players left a lot to be desired prior to his move to Old Trafford, but Rashford has been handed ample opportunities under the Portuguese tactician. The Wythenshawe-born striker, who joined United at the age of seven, has played 51 games for the Red Devils this season, scoring 13 goals. And he will be hoping to add to his tally during Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.

Jenas blasts Mourinho for Rashford treatment

On the eve of the cup final, former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas had something that he’d been waiting to get off his chest about Mourinho’s recent treatment of Rashford.

Jenas is outraged at Mourinho’s comments in the aftermath of United’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton earlier this month and did not hold back while talking on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I found what Mourinho did after that Brighton game, I thought it was disgusting. I really did,” the former Tottenham star said. “I think when you’re managing a young player like Marcus Rashford as well.

“The thing I really didn’t like about it is for him to come out and speak as publicly as he did at that time. What was he saying? It was ‘People are asking about [Romelu] Lukaku, why Lukaku? Well now you know’

“That was a direct shot at Rashford. It was almost like he enjoyed the failure of Rashford. It gave him the opportunity to go ‘Well you lot shut up now. I’m right and you’re wrong.’ And that is not a point that you should be using on a young player.”

Reaction to Jenas's rant

Incredibly strong words there from Jenas who, in fairness, might have a point.

While a lot of United fans have accused him of talking rubbish, other football supporters think he’s nailed it here.
