Vasiliy Lomachenko may only be 12 bouts into his boxing career, but the lightweight is already turning heads in the sport following some seriously strong performances.

And, according to ESPN, the Ukrainian fighter is currently the World's Best Fighter, regardless of weight category.

Lomachenko has won 11 out of his 12 fights ever since turning professional, nine of which have subsequently been by knockouts.

The junior lightweight and lightweight champion was last in the ring earlier this month when he beat Jorge Linares on May 12.

BBC boxing pundit Mike Costello was full of praise for the 30-year-old.

Costello said: "If you were in danger of falling out of love with boxing, Lomachenko rekindled the relationship.

"It's three world titles in as many divisions now. By way of context, Oscar De La Hoya took almost twice as long - 22 fights - to achieve that feat.

"He's had 11 world title fights and won 10 in a row. I was totting up the overall record of the men he has beaten: 286 wins, 15 defeats. That's the calibre of the men he has faced."

ESPN's in-house team of boxing reporters have complied a list which has seen Lomachenko come out on top.

The panel contained: Dan Rafael, Teddy Atlas, Bernardo Pilatti, Eric Raskin, Nick Parkinson, Nigel Collins, Joe Cortez, Charles Moynihan, Claudia Trejos, and Salvador Rodriguez

Lomachenko gained eight first-placed votes in the writers poll, which saw him defeat nine fellow fighters from different divisions.

In the voting, he finished on 97 points, a full 10 points ahead of Gennady Golovkin.

And, here is the full top 10, according to the ESPN writers.
