Jose Mourinho was seen as a club legend at Chelsea in years gone by.

After three league titles and a host of other domestic honours, it had seemed the Portuguese could do no wrong in the eyes of the Stamford Bridge faithful.

These days things are a little different.

As Manchester United boss Mourinho is now the enemy, with some fans branding their former favourite as “Judas”.

When Mourinho has taken the Red Devils to West London the tension between him and the Blues crowd has been palpable, with Jose holding up three fingers to show how many titles he won as a response to abuse from the terraces.

Prior to the FA Cup final Mourinho has been speaking about how he will feel if he is abused once again today.

The Portugese is known to let fireworks fly when speaking to the press, so it was surprising to hear him offer an olive branch to his former fans prior to a battle this afternoon.

“If the supporters hate me, dislike me or disrespect me, that’s something I cannot control,” said Mourinho, as per The Mirror.

“But you don’t have any thoughts from me with negative words about Chelsea supporters. Not one word.”

Mourinho is looking to end a mixed year on a high today and was nostalgic about the excellent relationship he formerly enjoyed with the Chelsea fans.

“The only thing I say in relation to Chelsea supporters is that since my first day in 2004 until my last day when I was sacked a couple of years ago, they were with me unconditionally.

“That I will never forget because they did what I think great supporters do, which is to support their manager unconditionally until the last day.

“They supported me every day. They supported me every match. They supported me even on the days I was sacked – twice.”

One thing is for sure, they’ll like him a whole lot more if Chelsea manage a win today.
