What a Formula 1 season it has been so far.

After Ferrari came flying out of the blocks to set the early season pace, Lewis Hamilton somehow finds himself atop the drivers standings after a catalogue of dramatic errors saw the flying Italians miss out on valuable points.

For Sebastian Vettel, it has been especially frustrating as he desperately looks for a way to dethrone Hamilton.

However, despite their troubles, Ferrari are still in their best position in years to finally challenge the monopoly that Mercedes has held over the Formula 1 titles for years.

It looks set to be an absolute humdinger of a battle for the world championship.

With the 2018 season still in its infancy however, the authorities are already making plans for next season, and it seems that some of the planned amendments are not going down well amongst the F1 fraternity.

In a bid to try and create more overtaking opportunities, simplified front wings, front brake ducts, and wider rear wings are expected to be introduced.

However, this will make the cars significantly slower than they are this season, and that is not a prospect that Red Bull chief Christian Horner seems to be relishing.

Speaking in an interview, Horner’s counterpart at Mercedes, Toto Wolff, claimed that he had never seen Horner so livid after hearing about the changes set for 2019.

“I haven’t seen [Horner] that livid,” said Wolff.

“It seems to be upsetting them massively. I don’t know why, for us it was a 50-50 decision.

“We wanted to be supportive of the work that’s been done and the direction looks correct.”

Red Bull have struggled to reign in their drivers so far this season, who have been responsible for some rather hairy moments throughout, even going so far as to crash into each other in Azerbaijan.

The on-track antics of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have bordered on unprofessional at times and Horner was clearly deeply frustrated after the disaster class at Baku.

Horner’s frustrations look to be growing deeper and deeper as this season wares on.
