Joe 'kingmaker' Cole takes legends role

As a Liverpool fan, I'm absolutely delighted at the summer activity under Roy Hodgson!

What do Peter Beardsley, Kevin Keegan and King Kenny Dalglish share through their past glories in a Liverpool shirt?

The magnificent number seven shirt emblazoned with the liver bird crest, of course.

Pure artistry, consumate flair, quick thinking, instant control, great vision, ability to turn quickly, excellent passing skills and an eye for both assisting and scoring goals that stay long in the memory - that most precious of commodities.

The yet to be crowned king but present prince darling of The Kop, Joe 'kool', will relish his opportunity to be the fans favourite and perhaps one day be revered/spoken of in the same breath as the original king of Scotland and Anfield road - to us redmen followers - 'Sir' Kenneth Dalglish.

The media coverage prior to Cole putting ink to paper gave little to the prospect of him wearing the new designer crafted Liverpool number seven shirt, but in Roy Hodgson we trust.

Straight swap...Yossi for Joe - thanks Benayoun, your services have not gone un-noticed, but hello Joe and welcome. This signing tells all of football that we are back in business!

Anyone yet to notice of the fact that (aside from the blue half of Manchester's suspect signings) no other teams are making improvements to their squads?

With a much touted £12M budget, two free transfer signings and three more players lined up this summer - a full back, pacy winger and striker - Liverpool Football Club will, in my opinion, challenge for the Premiership title next season.
