Italian starlet Sebastian Giovinco could be about to leave Juventus, with Arsenal waiting in the wings to sign the youngster.

The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Italian football after he was one of the Azzuri's star turns at the under-21 European Championships last summer. However, he has failed to secure himself a starting berth with Juventus - and is reportedly prepared to leave the Old Lady in order to secure first team football.

“It is normal that the boy wants to play. His desire was to do it at Juventus, but if the plans of the coach don’t involve him, it is necessary that he leaves and plays elsewhere," Giovinco's agent Andrea D'Amico told Sky Italia.

“He will choose the project that will give him greatest security. Within two or three days everything will be sorted out.”

Liverpool are understood to have been monitoring the progress of the diminutive playmaker but, after the capture of Joe Cole, they are unlikely to follow up their interest.

However, Arsenal are believed to be closely keeping tabs on Giovinco's situation, with Arsene Wenger expected to make an enquiry as to his availability.

The Turin native can either play behind the striker or as a winger in the classic mould, and would certainly provide Wenger with an exciting attacking option.
