Alexis Sanchez is struggling in a Manchester United shirt. The Chilean forward arrived at Old Trafford in January to much optimism. But he has not been able to show his true talent. Prior to Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea, he had only bagged three goals in 17 appearances.Despite his poor form he was handed a start in Manchester United's biggest game of the season. But Jose Mourinho's decision to start him backfired once again. He was extremely poor throughout as Man United could not find a way past Thibaut Courtois in the Chelsea goal.Man United were eventually beaten 1-0, with Sanchez putting in a one of the worst performances in a red shirt.

SANCHEZ HAS PUNDITS TALKING

Paul Scholes has weighed in on his opinion of the Chilean winger, and it's brutal to say the least.

Despite the 43-year-old admitting that Sanchez is a 'top class player', Scholes was baffled that he managed to stay on the pitch the full 90 minutes.

"How Sanchez stayed on the pitch with them two (Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard) creating problems as they were I have no idea," he said.

And Scholes went on to say his wastefulness on the ball was 'scary'.

"Sanchez, how many times he gave the ball away was scary really, and he’s a top class player, he’s not really done it for United yet."

Scholes then went on to state that Sanchez's performances could not get any worse, before going on to say that he is not a player that could win games on his own like Eden Hazard is for Chelsea.

"His performances, well they have to improve," he added. "They can’t get any worse to be honest with you.

"I think the next few games of next season are vital to him, he needs to get fans believing again and believing they are going to get close to City. They need a big player.

"Do they (have big players)? Paul Pogba does not win you games on his own. Hazard does. Alexis Sanchez doesn’t, he’s shown that since January, they thought he could, but what we’ve seen."

Brutal.

The season has ended, but Man United fans will be worrying about Sanchez's performances for the next few months.

Sanchez was brought in to transform Man United's attack.

He's done just that - but in a negative sense.

As Scholes says, the 29-year-old's performances can't get any worse. That's something he desperately needs to address at the start of next campaign.

Otherwise, it's almost certain that Mourinho will lose his patience with the former Arsenal player.

A lot of Man United fans have a similar opinion of Sanchez to that of Scholes.
