Chelsea were crowned winners of the 2017-18 FA Cup on Saturday afternoon thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Wembley.Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty sealed the prestigious trophy for Antonio Conte’s side, although United boss Jose Mourinho felt the better team had lost."I congratulate them but I don't think they deserved to win," the Portuguese coach was quoted as saying by BBC Sport."I congratulated them. I am Manchester United manager and I have to be respectful, not just because they are my previous club but because they are the opponents today and I think we deserved to win. I think we were the best team, but that is football."I am quite curious to know what you say or what people write because if my team plays like Chelsea did, I can imagine what people would say. I am quite curious."As Mourinho knows full well, though, winning is the only thing that matters in big matches like this. His team simply hadn’t done enough over the course of the 90 minutes to avoid defeat against Chelsea.Chelsea’s players and coaching staff - along with the club’s jubilant supporters, of course - presumably celebrated their latest victory long into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Barkley mercilessly mocked on Twitter

Among the players celebrating his first trophy was Ross Barkley, who arrived from Everton in a £15 million deal in January.

However, the 24-year-old has been mercilessly mocked on Twitter for his role in the post-match celebrations, due to the fact he didn’t even get off the bench against United. It all felt a little bit John Terry-esque.

Unsurprisingly, many of the cruellest tweets were from scorned Everton supporters, who still haven’t forgiven Barkley for the manner in which he left Goodison Park.

The Toffees would have made considerably more money on Barkley had he accepted Chelsea’s initial offer last summer.

Disappointing first five months for Barkley

He rejected it, didn’t play for the club again due to injury, and then accepted a second offer from Chelsea which resulted in Everton pocketing less cash for his services.

Barkley, however, has failed to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.

The England international has only made a handful of appearances for the west London outfit since January, mainly due to a hamstring injury.

But on the occasions he has played, Barkley has flattered to deceive.

It’s still early days, of course, and he will be hoping to play a more prominent role for the Blues after a full pre-season next term.
