The Money in the Bank pay-per-view is quickly approaching, and it’s now seen as the perfect platform for one lucky superstar in each of the ladder matches to, eventually, launch themselves to that next level.

More often than not, whoever ends up leaving with the briefcase is naturally pushed to the main event scene. Clearly, you have the exceptions with the likes of Randy Orton and John Cena, along with the unlucky names who don’t get the green light from Vince McMahon to leave with the world championship, such as Baron Corbin or even Damien Sandow.

MONEY IN THE BANK

However, there is proof that this can work. Seth Rollins has shown it, while it also helped the likes of Daniel Bryan, Edge and The Miz cement their place in the main event picture - without it looking too forced.

This year, eight superstars are going to have a chance to do the same with The Miz, Braun Strowman, Bobby Roode, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Rusev, one member of the New Day along with either Samoa Joe or Big Cass entering the men’s line-up.

Over the past few weeks, there have been several exciting rumours and theories on his this particular ladder match could unfold.

We’ve heard how Strowman could potentially cash-in as a face while The Miz emerged as the early favourite to leave with his second briefcase. But perhaps the most interesting rumour that has surfaced is the fact that not only is Big E expected to enter the match - but he could end up leaving as the winner.

Although many will argue that a Big E push is long overdue, others will claim Kofi Kingston perhaps deserves this opportunity more than anybody on the roster - let along the New Day. Now, speculation has emerged suggesting why Big E could be the one that leaves Chicago as Mr. Money in the Bank and it all revolves around the tag team division.

POPULARITY

First, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has claimed that WWE has been pulling back on their tag team division as the company feels there is no need to invest in it heavily. Now, Rajah is reporting that WWE is planning on having Big E venture into singles competition as the New Day is likely to have peaked in popularity as a trio.

The New Day has achieved a lot as a three-man group, but it’s also clear that they do deserve a lot more. Something fans have suggested over the years is that the group can remain intact while one of the members does chase singles glory, with Kingston being the name that popped up more often than not.

If WWE has given up on the tag team division for now, then it’s probably the best time to pull the trigger on a singles push for someone in the group; especially the star the company believes has the most potential if the New Day really has peaked in popularity.
