Comeback SZN is officially complete; Johnny Manziel is once again a professional football player. The former Browns quarterback has been working out relentlessly this offseason in order to earn himself a chance of redemption in the pro ranks and his hard work has finally payed off. Manziel hasn't played professionally since 2015 amidst a series of personal issues off the field, but he's finally going to get the chance to show what he can do again in 2018. The 2014 first round pick announced on Twitter that he would be furthering his football career in the CFL, Saturday. Sure, it's not his ultimate goal of playing in the NFL again, but it's a great start to a potential return to the top level one day. Manziel revealed later in the day, via Barstool Sports, that he'd signed a two-year deal with the Hamilton Tiger Cats. The Tiger-Cats held Manziel's exclusive rights and emerged as his best option to getting back in to the game in 2018. "We're excited to add Johnny Manziel to our roster, particularly getting it done now so that Johnny can join his new teammates and the coaching staff for a full training camp," Tiger-Cats coach June Jones said. "We feel like we've got an excellent group of quarterbacks, and the addition of Johnny only improves our football team in our pursuit of the ultimate goal, which is to win a Grey Cup Championship."

"Getting back to playing ball -- that's what it comes down to," Manziel said. "It's something that I miss doing. ... Big day for me. I'm no longer unemployed, getting back to what I love to do, and I'm happy about it."

The former Heisman Trophy winner has a lot to prove but it sounds like he's up for the challenge north of the border and he certainly isn't the first signal caller to have to prove himself in the CFL before getting a shot in the NFL.

There is a track record of CFL quarterbacks translating their strong play to the NFL, with Hall of Famer Warren Moon, Super Bowl winner Joe Theismann and Pro Bowler Doug Flutie all spending periods playing Canada before moving South and having highly successful careers.

Whether Manziel is successful in adjusting to the different rules and playing style in Canada remains to be seen, but his comeback progress is so good to see and if he can replicate anything like his college form in Hamilton he'll provide many a feel good moment for fans.
