Let’s be honest, it’s been a bit of a shambles at West Ham this season.

The nadir occurred on March 10, during the Hammers’ 3-0 defeat to Burnley, when fans invaded the pitch and directed abuse at the club’s owners inside the London Stadium.

There was a toxic atmosphere that afternoon and the mood of fans has only marginally improved after David Moyes steered the club away from relegation.

West Ham fans can’t wait for the day the club’s unpopular board - comprised of David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady - leave. But right now that seems unlikely to happen any time soon.

Some supporters will never forgive the trio for moving West Ham away from their historic Upton Park stadium. Fans are further away from the pitch at the London Stadium and generating a decent atmosphere has proved difficult.

But it’s not just the controversial stadium move which has made the club’s owners deeply unpopular with fans.

Just this weekend, for example, West Ham fans were left furious with Gold, Sullivan and Brady after it emerged that James Collins had been released by the club by email.

Collins left 'heartbroken and stunned'

The 34-year-old defender, who has spent 11 years in total with the Hammers over two separate spells, is understood to have been left heartbroken and stunned by the unceremonious manner in which his spell has ended.

Collins, per the Mirror, expected to receive the news face-to-face from a senior club official rather than an email and fans are understandably furious.

How could they treat such a loyal servant so badly?

It's disgraceful, really.

Vinnie Jones nails it on live radio

Another person who’s angry is the former Premier League defender-turned-movie star Vinnie Jones, who didn’t hold back on talkSPORT on Monday morning.

“If the reports are true, that’s probably the lowest thing I’ve ever heard,” the ex-Wimbledon and Chelsea star told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“How can you put so much into the club… it should be testimonial time, the fans should be turning out for him!

“Is that the way we’ve gone? That’s pretty ruthless.”

You’re always guaranteed the hard truth with Jones and he’s hit the nail on the head again here.

Releasing any player via email is low, let alone a player who’s given the club in question 11 years of service.

As Jones says: is that the way we’ve gone?
