A WWE superstar might possess all of the necessary qualities to become a real force on either Monday Night RAW or SmackDown LIVE, but perhaps the most important aspect that goes into launching a star into the main event scene is whether or not Triple H and Vince McMahon have given them their backing.

Over the years, we have heard plenty of stories surrounding potential tension between Vince and The Game behind the scenes. More often than not, it seems to revolve around how NXT superstars are treated or booked on the main roster.

DEVELOPMENT

When the stars are developing on NXT, Triple H is very hands-on with how they appear, how they talk and how they work inside of the ring. This usually helps them turn into much bigger names with main roster success almost a guarantee. However, we’ve seen in several cases over the years that NXT popularity doesn’t always translate to main event success, just as The Ascension, Tyler Breeze, Tye Dillinger and The Revival - to name a few.

However, if speculation is to be believed, then there’s one former NXT star both Vince and Triple H are big fans of - meaning his future on the main roster could be successful.

Everyone will be familiar with the rapid downfall of Drew McIntyre during his first WWE stint, while Vince claiming that the Scottish star is ‘The Chosen One’ probably did nothing but add even more pressure on him to impress. In the end, he departed after he was limited to a role in 3MB alongside Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater.

After a successful independent run, The Game brought McIntyre back to NXT and now, he’s teaming up with Dolph Ziggler on RAW. Wrestling insider WrestleVotes has revealed on Twitter that both Vince and Triple H are high on Drew, with Triple H heavily involved in his booking.

THE CHOSEN ONE

He tweeted: “Texting with a source: heard that since his return to Monday Night RAW last month, Vince has been very high on Drew McIntyre. Triple H also heavily involved in Drew. Pairing w/ Ziggler is for the time being, but could turn into something big down the line.”

McIntyre looked fantastic last week on RAW, especially when Braun Strowman tried to bulldoze through him but it seemed as if he ran into a brick wall instead.

Since his return, fans have been vocal about wanting to see him receive a big push, and a potential feud with Ziggler down the line could be the way to do that.

With Triple H looking over him and continuing to remain heavily involved, perhaps McIntyre’s second stint in WWE could be what many thought his first one would end up being - if they decide to push him naturally and don’t force it.
