Kobe Bryant may be retired from the NBA but he's still keeping a close eye on the game as he's providing special analysis during the playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers legend has been given his own segment on ESPN called 'Detail' where he breaks down specific plays by teams and analyses players. The focus of his latest piece was Boston Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum as he broke down his play in the opening games of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.Bryant offered the 20-year-old advice on how he can improve his game and be more successful offensively.Tatum admitted that he watched the clip 25 times and found it extremely helpful receiving advice from one of his favourite players growing up.“That was really cool for me. Growing up, (Bryant) was my favorite player. That was really a special moment for me,” Tatum said Saturday, per ESPN’s Chris Forsberg.

“I’ve probably watched (the video) like 25 times already. It’s very helpful information that I can take with me.”

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, however, had a completely different response when he discovered that his young star was taking Kobe's words on board.

Stevens joked that Tatum should be cautious in listening to a former Lakers player, referencing the long-standing rivalry between the two teams.

"You've gotta be careful taking (advice) from a Laker," Stevens said, per Bleacher Report. "Nah I'm kidding."

To have caught the attention of one of the NBA's greatest ever players shows just how impressive the Celtics small forward has been in his first year.

The number three overall pick has raised his game to another level in the playoffs and is the team's leading scorer averaging 18.1 points.

With All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward unavailable, he's stepped up offensively and played a huge role in helping Boston make the conference finals.

His outstanding contributions have also put the C's within two wins of reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.

The Duke product was also the only Celtics player to have a relatively good game against the Cavs in a 30-point Game 3 loss on Saturday night as he posted 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting.

It has been a truly special debut campaign in the league for Tatum but it could yet get even better as he still has a chance of ending the year as an NBA champion.

The Celtics take on the Cavaliers in a crucial Game 4 in Cleveland on Monday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
