Arsenal promised they would announce their new manager before the World Cup and it seems their search is done and dusted.

Fans would be mistaken for thinking the search had closed with the appointment of Mikel Arteta, but a late approach for Unai Emery has changed the game. The unveiling of Emery as Arsene Wenger's replacement seems a question of when, not if.

In fact, you'd struggle to find a reputable UK source that hasn't addressed the selection as just a matter of confirmation.

After 22 years under the watchful eye of Wenger, though, it's difficult to predict how Arsenal will move forward under their new Spanish boss.

According to The Sun, Emery plans to build the team around Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Aaron Ramsey but his full plans remain unknown.

Who will Emery sign?

What Spanish experts have been reiterating, however, is that Emery will provide a strict structure to the club and will be meticulous in his methods.

And it just happens that he's a serial winner having collected three Europa League titles at Sevilla and winning every domestic trophy under the sun with Paris Saint-Germain.

However, perhaps the most intriguing dynamic concerns who Emery will sign this summer.

There has been speculation that the 46-year-old will look to bring in some of his old players with the likes of Julian Draxler, Adrien Rabiot and Jeremy Mathieu touted.

Arsenal fans want Nzonzi

None of those players are on the lips of Arsenal fans as much as Steven Nzonzi, though.

In fact, in the aftermath of the Emery news, Gooners are talking up the possibility of the Frenchman joining on Twitter. Check out the pick of the tweets below:

Nzonzi has been constantly linked with Arsenal over the last two years and perhaps a reunion with Emery could be the cue for it to finally happen.

Since he left the Premier League in 2015, the Frenchman has become one of Europe's most underrated defensive midfielders and a stalwart at Sevilla.

He could prove the perfect man to either work alongside or even replace Granit Xhaka.

One of the biggest complaints against the current Arsenal side is their lack of a distinctive spine and overall physicality. There can be no doubting that Nzonzi would bring that to the side.

Nevertheless, it won't be easy with Arsenal believed to have only £50 million at their disposal this summer.

Gooners certainly wouldn't mind a chunk of that being spent on Nzonzi, though.
