Following the conclusion of Super Bowl LII, one of the most talked about quarterbacks in the league this offseason has been Nick Foles and whether or not he will be with the Philadelphia Eagles or somewhere else in the NFL by the start of next season.

Foles Wanted

Ever since Foles took home the Super Bowl MVP award after throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns, as well as catching a touchdown himself against the New England Patriots, many teams have reportedly been interested in trading for the quarterback.

Unsurprisingly, with all the quarterback troubles they have, the Cleveland Browns were one of those teams with an interest in Foles, and recent reports have stated they sent the Eagles a huge offer in order to acquire his services.

According to Michael Silver of NFL.com, shortly before the start of the new league year on March 14, the Eagles turned down a potential trade that would have sent Super Bowl LII MVP to the Browns in exchange for the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

This would have been a huge trade as it would have been more than what the San Francisco 49ers traded to the Patriots in exchange for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the middle of last season. Back in October, the 49ers sent their second-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for Jimmy G, which ended up being the 43rd overall pick.

No Deal

Philadelphia could have had their hands on the 35th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, the reason why this trade didn't happen was due to Foles himself. The Eagles ran the trade by the quarterback and he made it clear that he wanted to stay in Philadelphia.

The Eagles later gave Foles a revised contract for leading the team to their first-ever Super Bowl, a deal which includes $2 million bonus for 2018 and allows him to earn up to $14 million in incentives. It also includes a mutual option for 2019, meaning he could still hit the market as a free agent next offseason.

The Browns, on the other hand, traded for former Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who they acquired for a third-round pick, and they also drafted former Oklahoma star Baker Mayfield with the first overall pick. With the 35th pick, they selected Georgia running back Nick Chubb.

Things, for now, appear to have worked out for both sides of this potential trade, as both parties have managed to get what they wanted, with Foles staying with the Eagles while the Browns got their quarterback. This proposed trade will be worth revising though in a few years time to see if it ultimately paid off for the better for both teams.
