It became official news this week that Anthony Joshua has rejected Deontay Wilder's opening $50m offer to sort a mega-fight between the pair.

The key issue with the proposal from Wilder and his team was that the bout would have to take place in the USA.

Despite the figures matching what Joshua had previously stated in an interview, the Watford-born fighter and Eddie Hearn have decided they want it to be staged in the UK.

Joshua's trainer Rob McCracken is said to have had a huge influence over the decision, telling his man that unifying the heavyweight division on home soil would be a watershed moment for British boxing.

Joshua is prepared to take a significant pay cut in order to meet Wilder in a venue such as Wembley or Twickenham.

Nevertheless, despite the rejection, Joshua is actually in the US right now and he was in attendance at a basketball game in LA.

And his presence caused a bit of a stir on Twitter, due to to the fact that one of the US commentators, Reggie Miller, accidentally refereed to him as 'Anthony Johnson'.

An honest mistake on the face of it, but Lennox Lewis decided to spark a huge debate by giving his opinion on the matter.

LEWIS' TWEET

Is he right? Does Joshua need to project his brand worldwide? Or is Lewis simply kicking up a fuss because he made the jump to the US?

Well, the reaction from fans was a tad mixed, but quite a few acknowledged that Joshua's name is already big enough, regardless of a fight in the US.

BOXING FANS REACT

Not exactly Mr. Popular after that tweet.

The commentator himself even replied to Lewis' post and he, like most boxing fans, just wants the fight to be sorted as soon as possible.

COMMENTATOR REPLIES

It seems they know who Joshua is in the US and it will only be a matter of time until he steps foot in one of their rings - especially if Wilder beats him in the UK.
