John Terry has had a decent season in his debut season with Aston Villa in the Championship, but it could get a lot better on Saturday afternoon.Terry will no doubt be a key player for Aston Villa on the weekend as they face a winner-takes-all matchup against Fulham in the playoff-final, with the victor earning a spot in the Premier League. However, questions marks remain over the Englishman's future. The veteran wants to play on beyond this season, but has previously noted that he doesn't want to line-up against his former club Chelsea. He refused Premier League offers last summer and dropped down to the Championship for that very reason.Terry's contract with the club is sent to end this summer but has the opportunity to extend his stay by an extra 12 months if he chooses. And Villa boss Steve Bruce is hoping he does so.“I genuinely hope he [Terry] triggers it," All those phone calls to him last summer, he hasn’t been disappointed with it. From the training ground, to the stadium, to the support, it has all the makings of a big club.“I’m sure he will give it a good go if we get promoted and enjoy the challenge of it. We’ll not pick him against Chelsea if that’s what he wants.”

TERRY COULD SIGN UNIQUE CONTRACT

So what will Terry do if Villa got promoted?

Steve Bruce alluded to the fact that the club would not pick Terry against Chelsea if that's what he wanted.

And it seems they are staying true to their word.

The Guardian report that Villa are confident that Terry would sign a new contract if they are promoted.

The publication on to add: "Although Steve Bruce’s response to that potential problem was slightly tongue-in-cheek, it is understood that Villa would agree to Terry missing the Chelsea matches if need be."

So that means Terry could end up signing a unique contract that is very rarely come across in football.

It's a very odd clause, but Villa would not mind if it means they get an extra 12 months out of the vastly experienced centre-back.

Football fans are in disbelief that Terry would even consider signing such a contract.

Ouch.

One thing is for sure, though. Terry's love for Chelsea is unwavering.

BRUCE: HE'S ONE OF THE GREAT DEFENDERS

Steve Bruce went on to have some very kind words about Terry.

“He has been one of the great defenders of our country," he added. "He is a great leader of men, which we don’t produce many of any more. In a quiet way, he is not a ranter and a raver, he is not one who puts heads through doors. He hasn’t exceeded expectations, I just knew what he would give.

“That’s what we’ve brought him for, not just to win a game on a Saturday but his overall contribution. He’s never let us down."
