We have heard very little from David Haye’s camp since his devastating defeat to Tony Bellew earlier this month.Haye, 37, was beaten convincingly when referee Howard Foster stopped the fight in the 5th round after it was deemed ‘The Hayemaker’ could no longer defend himself from the relentless onslaught of Bellew.Their heavyweight rivalry has now come to a close and Bellew is keen to secure a super-fight against Andre Ward or Tyson Fury.Haye, however, looks set to call time on a stellar 16-year career which saw him crowned the unified cruiserweight champion of the world in 2008, and win the WBA world heavyweight title in 2009.On Wednesday night, Haye tweeted: “Thank you for your kind words of love and support over the last couple of weeks.“I look forward to updating you on my plans for the future shortly, sometimes it takes a little while to find the right words.”The hint would suggest that Haye is set to bring down the curtain on his career – currently boasting a record of 28-4.And, according to Sportsmail, that's exactly what is going to happen, with Daily Mail claiming that Haye is set to announce his retirement from the sport.Haye has looked a shadow of himself the past six years as he failed to make an appearance in the ring in 2013, 2014, and 2015 due to injury. He recorded two quick-fire victories in 2016, before the two convincing losses to Bellew.

Plenty thought that Haye should have retired after his first defeat by Bellew last year, when he ruptured his Achilles mid-fight, but he was determined to get one last shot at ‘The Bomber’ in an attempt to restore some pride and rebuild his reputation.

The London-born fighter has often been surrounded by controversy, ranging from his broken toe excuse following the let-down of his defeat by Wladimir Klitschko, to his brawl with Dereck Chisora at a press conference in the wake of the latter’s defeat by Vitali Klitschko in 2012.

In the meantime, promotional duties continue for Haye as his joint venture with Hayemaker Boxing and Ringstar journey’s on to York Hall on June 15.

Haye’s prize heavyweight asset Joe ‘Juggernaut’ Joyce (4-0, 4 KO’s) will headline a card in what will be the first defence of his Commonwealth heavyweight title that he won against Lenroy Thomas on the Bellew-Haye 2 undercard.
