LeBron James' NBA Finals appearances streak is on the brink of coming to an end as the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently 3-2 down in their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Boston Celtics. They're one more loss away from being eliminated from the playoffs this season.

James did his best to try and swing the outcome of the game in his team's favour, as he finished Game 5 with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists while shooting 11-of-22 from the field, but the rest of his teammates failed to reach his standard of play on the night.

The Cavs ended up losing the game 96-83 to the Celtics on Wednesday night at the TD Garden in Boston, as they couldn't contain Jayson Tatum who finished with 24 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks while shooting 7-of-15 from the field.

Finals Streak

Another loss for the Cavaliers in the playoffs would not only bring their NBA title hopes to an end, but it would also end LeBron's NBA Finals streak. The King's NBA Finals streak stretches back to his time at the Miami Heat, as he has made seven straight appearances at that stage of the playoffs.

The fact that his Finals streak could be coming to an end soon though if the Cavaliers don't win the next two games doesn't concern the four-time MVP winner. He said, according to The Undefeated, that the only reason why the streak has been able to happen is due to the fact that he's been able to play with some fantastic players.

James said following the game on Wednesday: “I’ve never went to any season saying 'OK, let’s have a Finals streak'. It’s just all about just win every game and it should put us in position to play for a championship.

“I was able to go (to the Finals) four straight (in Miami), and three straight since I’ve been back here. It just happens because I’ve been able to play with some great players.”

Simply put, LeBron hasn't had the same great players with him this season, which is why the team has not only struggled to make waves in the playoffs, but throughout the season. He's going to need a miracle if he’s to reach the NBA Finals for the eighth straight time, as well as help that has been non existent on the Cavaliers roster all season long.
