Mohamed Salah could cap off a remarkable debut season at Liverpool with a Champions League winners medal.

The Egyptian international has shattered all sorts of records up to this point.

His 44 goals have led his side to a fourth place in the Premier League and a berth in the Champions League final in Kiev.

The club will no doubt be hoping that Salah can lead them to their sixth European title.

The tricky part? Liverpool will be facing Real Madrid, a team that are bidding to win their fourth Champions League title in five seasons.

Salah will need to be at his best if Liverpool are to emerge victorious. Especially with one of the best players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo, featuring on the opposite side.

But how is Salah feeling going into the biggest day of his career so far?

Frank Lampard went to speak with the 25-year-old ahead of the final, and he noticed something very encouraging about Salah's mindset.

The former England international is convinced that the former Roma player can go head to head with Ronaldo after seeing the 'steely determination' in his words and his eyes.

"Liverpool’s clash with Real Madrid in Kiev is being billed in many quarters as Salah versus Cristiano Ronaldo," Lampard wrote in his column for the Evening Standard.

"To some, that could be quite daunting. Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in history and has a record of scoring in major games which shows he’s one for the big occasion. But, trust me, Salah is ready to go toe to toe.

"I went to interview him at the start of the week for BT Sport and there was a steely determination in the way he spoke to me, as well as in his eyes.

"Salah completely understands his talent in a good way; he’s full of self-belief, yet speaks with humility. I think he now feels, and rightly so, that it is a case of him versus Ronaldo. He believes this is his level."

Great news.

Liverpool need their star man to be in great shape ahead of the final.

His attitude suggests that he is ready to make history, which is sure to be exciting for Liverpool fans.

DANNY MURPHY: I FANCY LIVERPOOL TO DO IT

Danny Murphy has had his say on the Champions League final, and thinks Liverpool can over-run Real Madrid in the same way Tottenham did earlier on in the season.

He said: “Some people have said that a lot of Liverpool’s lads are inexperienced in terms of Champions League finals, while Real Madrid have been there and done it.

“But I don’t think that will affect Liverpool’s energy and hunger and passion.

“I fancy them to do it.

“Partly because when I saw Tottenham and Wembley against Real this season they just over-ran them. They just had too much fitness and too much fight.

“I can’t see Liverpool playing any other way than they have been. I can’t see them being cautious at all.”
