The Golden State Warriors' three-year NBA Finals streak is on the verge of coming to an end as they went down 3-2 in the Western Conference Finals with a loss in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets.A narrow 98-94 defeat at the Toyota Center has put them in a perilous position heading back home for the next game in the series. The defending champions lost back-to-back games for the first time since the 2016 finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers. They produced a lethargic performance in a crucial encounter as they committed 16 turnovers, including on a potential game-winning possession with just over six seconds to go.Trailing 96-94, the Dubs came out of a timeout with a chance to tie or take the lead but they coughed the ball up as Draymond Green failed to gather a pass from Stephen Curry. The Warriors also didn't shoot the ball particularly well and completely went away from their usual style of basketball.Despite a bad night in Houston that leaves their season hanging in the balance, head coach Steve Kerr remained positive after the game and is happy with the position they're in."I feel great about where we are right now. That may sound crazy, but I feel it," Kerr told reporters, via ESPN's Chris Haynes."I know exactly what I'm seeing out there, and we defended them beautifully tonight. We got everything we needed. Just too many turnovers, too many reaches, and if we settle down a little bit, we're going to be in really good shape."Having won two of the last three championships, Kerr has every right to be confident in his team as they head back home to try and avoid elimination.

Experience

This is also a familiar position for the defending champs as they overturned a 3-1 deficit against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2016 conference finals.

Curry reiterated his coach's words and also believes they can force a Game 7 back in Houston if they brush up on their mental lapses.

"I think the way we've played the last two games, we've played good enough to win and just haven't gotten the job done," he said.

"So, going home Game 6, the way we played tonight, if we can repeat that, take care of turnovers, just stay mentally locked in on the details for 48 minutes, we know we can get a win."

Nobody thought their season would be on the line but they have struggled against a hungry and resilient Rockets team who are determined to get the job done in Oakland.
