Unai Emery faces quite the challenge in this summer's transfer window given Arsenal are only prepared to give him £50 million to spend.

It's far from an ideal amount for the Gunners' new manager to turn a stagnated side into title contenders, but that's the reality and he must find a way to cope.

What's certain is that if Emery wants to sign any more than two players he's going to have to sell a couple of Arsenal's current names.

Shkodran Mustafi is one player who could end up heading for the exit following two underwhelming seasons in north London, so too could Granit Xhaka.

It's in defence and midfield where Emery needs to make improvements and according to the Daily Mail, he's pinpointed five players he would like to sign this summer.

However, the most exciting name on the Spaniard's shortlist is arguably Ousmane Dembele, who could be sent on loan this summer by Barcelona if they sign Antoine Griezmann.

Let's take a look at the five players Emery has his eye on.

SOKRATIS PAPASTATHOPOULOS

With Mustafi's future in doubt, Laurent Koscielny out for the foreseeable and Per Mertesacker now retired, Arsenal are close to sealing a £15 million move for Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The 29-year-old has been hugely impressive for Borussia Dortmund in his five years at the club and would come as a huge bargain.

JEAN MICHAEL SERI

Arsenal face considerable competition for Jean Michael Seri's signature but the 26-year-old is exactly the kind of player they're missing.

Combative yet creative, Seri would add a new dimension to Arsenal's at times passive midfield. He's valued at £35 million.

JONNY EVANS

New manager, same old targets. Jonny Evans is a solid defender and even though he's just been relegated with West Brom, Arsenal are still in for the 30-year-old.

Evans would only cost £3 million but a sticking point is that his agent is demanding £4 million in commission.

BERND LENO

Petr Cech may have just been handed the No.1 jersey at Arsenal, but the Gunners need a new goalkeeper and Bernd Leno could be available.

Now 26 years old, the Germany international wants guaranteed first-team football and is a very decent shot-stopper on his day.

OUSMANE DEMBELE (LOAN)

That's right Arsenal fans, Emery wants to bring Dembele to the Emirates Stadium on loan from Barcelona this summer.

Dembele, 21, is one of Europe's hottest prospects at the moment and even just having him for one season would be great business for Arsenal.
