Rusev seems to be in the headlines the most from SmackDown LIVE in recent weeks, and it all revolves around the future of the Rusev Day act.

There have been conflicting reports for a while now which have only kept fans on the edge of their seats to see what unfolds with the former United States Champion.

POPULARITY

There is speculation that Lana could be brought into the fold to make the group a trio alongside Aiden English, while the most recent rumours have suggested that the Rusev Day act is coming to an end with Rusev turning on the former Vaudevillain.

If the latter is to happen, it’s being claimed that Rusev will revert to his monstrous ways with Lana by his side as his manager - an act which saw them become uber-popular in the run-in to WrestleMania 31 and it’s something fans had been calling for before Rusev Day emerged.

Rusev will try his luck to become Mr. Money in the Bank next month as he defeated Daniel Bryan to qualify for the match, while Lana surprisingly qualified too.

Understandably, plenty of eyebrows were raised when the inexperienced Lana was booked to compete in the ladder match as opposed to someone more experienced. Since then, it’s been revealed that Lana is practising taking bumps from the ladder, despite there being concern from the fans.

LANA #1

However, it’s now been revealed by the Backstage in WWE podcast, which you can listen to by clicking here, that the reason Lana is being heavily pushed is down to Vince McMahon himself. This is why she’s set to either become a big part of Rusev Day or become that popular figure alongside The Bulgarian Brute which saw her popularity skyrocket.

The source added that the big push doesn’t necessarily mean she’s going to have a massive in-ring future, it’s just that her popularity combined with victories means she’s always going to be over.

According to Ringside News, the source said: “I mean, she sucks in the ring but she’s over, and the fans love her so when she comes out and wins, she’s over. She’s a great package with Rusev, you know that’s where she should be. Not every woman on the roster needs to wrestle.”

Considering Vince is a big fan, it shouldn’t be a massive surprise that he’s personally going to give her yet another push to reach the same levels of popularity she once enjoyed, while the fans also showed their appreciation on a weekly basis.
