Liverpool are preparing for their biggest match in over a decade ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday.

The Reds last contested the final of a European competition in the 2015-16 Europa League, but that pales in comparison to the magnitude of their trip to Kiev.

Jurgen Klopp has watched his men sweep aside plenty of quality opponents with their bold attacking style of play, scoring 46 goals in 14 outings this season.

While Roma, Manchester City nor Porto could keep Liverpool’s potent strike force at bay, Madrid pose a unique challenge, not least in a Champions League final.

Los Blancos stand to win their third consecutive crown in the competition – a feat that was last achieved by Bayern Munich between 1973 and 1976.

To prevent that from happening, all eyes will be on Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to help outscore the most formidable European club of the modern era.

The trio have collectively struck 29 of Liverpool’s 40 Champions League goals en route to the final this term, making them the deadliest team in this year’s competition.

When it comes to weighing up how the Reds can beat Real this weekend, it’s understandable that their goalscoring credentials have drawn most of the attention.

And although Salah, Mane and Firmino are the most likely match-winners, a video of the squad training at the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium has done no harm to James Milner’s candidacy.

The footage shows Liverpool playing a practice match on a reduced-size pitch, with Milner appearing to play in his now customary left-back position.

The 32-year-old receives the ball out wide, but with no clear options to aim for in the makeshift penalty area, he cuts inside to fire a curling effort past Loris Karius via the crossbar.

Not a bad strike for a man famed for his supposedly boring nature.

Check it out in the video below.

Liverpool fans are less than 12 hours away from watching their team play in a Champions League final, so it’s no wonder Milner’s piece of brilliance has them buzzing even more.

In fact, some are even asking him to repeat the trick during the match.

Whether Milner or anyone else can pull off anything like this in such a high-pressure match remains to be seen, but it’s sure to be an enticing battle in Kiev.
