There isn’t a game quite like the Champions League final. In football’s greatest club competition, the battle to determine the kings of Europe is always one not to be missed.Liverpool and Real Madrid will meet in Kiev on Saturday evening in a contest that has the potential to be a thriller. Both sides are better in attack than they are in defence, that’s for sure. And so fans should expect goals, and plenty of them. It’s been fun to see Manchester United supporters such as Gary Neville and David Beckham express their desire to see Real Madrid triumph.Indeed, Neville joked he would flee the country if Liverpool succeed.

Wilshere's tweet

Golfer Rory McIlroy, a Man United supporter, caused a stir by admitting he wants Liverpool to win and Jack Wilshere has sparked a similar reaction with the tweet he posted on Saturday morning.

“What a day of football, have to back the english team! Good luck @JamesMilner @JHenderson 👊🏻⚽️,” Wilshere wrote.

Wilshere can choose who he wants to win, but he must realise that his audience is largely Arsenal based.

And, unsurprisingly, there aren’t many Arsenal fans who want Liverpool to win.

As a result, Wilshere has received a number of responses telling him to delete his tweet.

It all boils down to the argument of whether football fans should support their home country in Europe.

Wilshere thinks that he should; a large number of his followers disagree.

One man who won't agree with Wilshere's message is Neville, who even tweeted Cristiano Ronaldo on the eve of the final.

"Come on @Cristiano sleep well..," Neville wrote to his former Man United teammate.

The rivalry between Man United and Liverpool remains intense, and the last thing Neville wants to see, after watching Manchester City win the Premier League and Chelsea win the FA Cup, is Jurgen Klopp's side become champions of Europe.

But you've got to give them credit.

Liverpool have been a joy to watch this season and Klopp deserves credit for building a squad that, on its day, is close to unstoppable.

And with Naby Keita to arrive in the summer, and more exciting signings planned, this Liverpool team is here to stay.
