It's been three years since Jordan Henderson succeeded Steven Gerrard as Liverpool captain and questions remain of whether it was the right decision.
But now the 27-year-old has the chance to prove his doubters very wrong by winning the Champions League tonight.
Liverpool take on Real Madrid at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev and if the Reds come out on top Henderson will be considered a club legend.
He's never won a trophy in his seven years at Liverpool, let alone one as captain, but that could all be about to change.
"It's in the DNA of Liverpool Football Club to win trophies," said Henderson on Friday. "Us, as a team, want to win trophies for us, but also for the fans and for the club.
"We're certainly going in the right direction to do that. We've definitely moved forward and we're going in the right direction.
"But it's also important to win trophies and hopefully we can start by winning one tomorrow."
HENDERSON RARING TO MAKE HISTORY
Henderson will be responsible for motivating his teammates in the hours leading up to the final and according to Simon Mignolet, the Englishman has something planned to do just that.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Mignolet explained that Henderson will be in charge of music in the dressing room before the final.
And the last song he wants Liverpool's players to listen to before they go out onto the pitch? 'God's Plan' by Drake.
"Hendo is in charge of the music," Mignolet explained. "The moment we arrive in the dressing room after getting off the coach the physios put the playlist on.
"I don't get involved but it's a real mix. Alberto [Moreno] has his Spanish songs and Roberto [Firmino] has a couple in Portuguese.
"We have a certain playlist for just before a game. It's always the same sequence.
"The last song that gets played before we step out on to the pitch is 'God's Plan'. Then it's down to business."
Now that's a song that will get you motivated for a final. Liverpool's biggest game in their recent history awaits - and you get the feeling they're going to come out all guns blazing.
