Currently, Brock Lesnar reigns as the WWE's Universal Champion over on Monday Night RAW.

Fans have seemingly become fed up  with The Beast retaining the World Title, however, as his part-time status doesn't sit well with many fans.

WWE has been stalling on the championship changing hands for no apparent reason.

Initially fans believed Roman Reigns would defeat Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 this past April in New Orleans, after their feud had been built-up since WrestleMania 30 four years prior, but instead The Beast wound up retaining after hitting six F5s on The Big Dog.

Now the question remains - who will be the one to finally dethrone Lesnar?

While many expect it to be either Reigns on Braun Strowman, one WWE Hall Of Famer is going against the grain and has thrown out a rather interesting name to add to the mix.

A Legend's Prediction

Longtime WWE broadcaster and Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently took to his podcast, The Ross Report, and offered his thoughts on the Universal Title matter.

Ross offered his thoughts as to why former WWE Intercontinental Champion and NXT Champion Drew McIntyre should be the next Universal Title holder in the future (quotes via 411Mania):

“[McIntyre] looks great, he sounds great, he’s in great condition, he’s just getting better and better,” said Ross.

“He’s a big time player. I could see, very easily, Drew McIntyre being a Universal or WWE Champion down the road. Without a doubt. It’s a lay-up; trust me on this one.”

McIntyre has had a rather interesting run in the professional wrestling business. The Scotsman has always had a tremendous look to be a top guy in the business.

He is also a very good worker inside the ring. McIntyre was initially signed to WWE back in 2007, and was sent to WWE's then-developmental territory of Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).

After some time in developmental, McIntyre was called up to the main roster in August of 2009 and he'd go on to win the Intercontinental Championship.

Eventually, McIntyre would fall out as a serious singles competitor, later being a part of the comedic faction Three Man Band (3MB) alongside Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater.

McIntyre was subsequently handed his walking papers from WWE in June of 2014, and was forced to return to the independent circuit.

The Return

After three years on the indies, McIntyre was brought back to WWE, again on a developmental deal, and was sent to NXT where he later won the brand's title.

He later dropped the championship to Andrade "Cien" Almas at an NXT TakeOver event, but suffered an injury during the match that shelved him for several months.

This past April McIntyre returned to WWE TV, re-making his main roster debut alongside Dolph Ziggler on Monday Night RAW. He has shown glimpses of greatness and potential in recent weeks, prompting high praise from Vince McMahon himself.

Ross' pick for McIntyre to one day be a Universal Champion is not too far out of the realm of possibility. Don't be surprised of the Scotsman receives a big push very soon.
