WWE has started a trend with their NXT brand.

WWE held an NXT live event on last weekend in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At the show, The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) made a surprise appearance.

Tyler Breeze also made a surprise appearances at NXT live event last weekend. This is starting to become a trend within the WWE.

While Triple H got a bad wrap for marrying Vince McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon, when he was still an active wrestler, not many people thought that he would be in the position that he is now.

While it was believed that Triple H would be an executive in WWE, it was pretty much ruled out that he would be the guy in control of everything. Triple H even went on record by saying that he didn’t want to wear a tie and suit.

However, that all changed when McMahon pushed for his son-in-law to slowly but surely become someone he could lean on not only with creative but business related things.

Before NXT, which Triple H created, WWE had OVW and other developmental brands to get talents that they saw as draws ready for the big stage. At the time, the indie scene was a totally different place than it is right now.

Triple H believed that they needed to build within instead of reach out to other promotions and grab their talent. Thus, NXT was born, and later WWE created the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez mentioned that WWE will likely continue to send superstars down to the NXT brand and have them work live events due to the fact that there are so many talents on the main roster right now. Here is what he had to say (transcript courtesy of RingsideNews):

“As you can see from last weekend, they are slowly starting to have some of the guys who aren’t being used much, Revival. I think you may see some others as well, showing up at NXT live events which should be happening.”
