Gareth Bale, take a bow.The Welshman was left out of Real Madrid’s starting line-up for the Champions League final against Liverpool but he entered the fray in the 61st minute, coming on for Isco, with the scores level at 1-1.Zinedine Zidane reacted to the equaliser by Sadio Mane, who cancelled out Karim Benzema’s opener, by sending on Bale and what an inspired substitution it proved to be.Just 122 seconds after entering the fray, the 28-year-old scored one of the best goals of this or any other season.Cristiano Ronaldo netted a remarkable overhead kick against Juventus earlier in the campaign but Bale’s effort was arguably even better.Marcelo sent in a speculative cross with his right foot and the ball was met by Bale, who acrobatically turned it into the back of the net past Loris Karius.

Video: Bale's incredible goal

You can watch Bale’s goal in all its glory here…

Absolutely sensational stuff.

Real Madrid surely won’t be selling him this summer after that moment of magic.

Zidane's reaction

Zidane’s reaction was priceless…

Needless to say, Bale’s goal sent social media into meltdown.

Lineker nailed it with his tweet

One of the most popular tweets of the night was posted by BT Sport host Gary Lineker

The former England international said: “OMG! Bale has out Ronaldo’d Ronaldo. Incredi-BALE.”

Even with the cheesy pun, Lineker had nailed it. Within 20 minutes of being posted, it had already racked up close to 4,000 retweets.

It seems he wasn’t the only person who thought Bale’s overhead kick was even more spectacular than Ronaldo's memorable effort.

In a separate tweet, Lineker added: "What a ridiculous goal from @GarethBale11. Unquestionably one of the best goals of all time."

Well said, Gary!

Bale then made it 3-1 in the closing stages after Karius made another howler.

What a night for the Welshman.

Both were obviously incredible goals but which was better? Have your say by leaving a comment below.
