Real Madrid emerged victorious 3-1 over Liverpool in what was a drama filled game. The first half featured no goals, although there was controversy as Mo Salah was forced off through injury after a challenge from Sergio Ramos. But the game burst into life in the second-half.Karim Benzema gave the Spanish side the lead in the 51st minute thanks to a quite incredible howler from Loris Karius.Sadio Mane restored parity four minutes later, before Bale gave Los Blancos the lead with one of the greatest goals in Champions League history. The Welshman was left disappointed as he was made to start on the bench, but he made his marks just minutes after coming off by executing a ridiculous overhead kick.Another Karius error gave Bale his second and Real Madrid a 3-1 victory.

LORIS KARIUS’ FIRST HOWLER

It was all going well until Loris Karius’ howler in the 51st minute.

A ball was sent over the top for Benzema to run onto, but Karius got there easily.

But in his haste he tried to roll the ball out quickly, despite the Frenchman standing right in front of him.

The French striker stuck out his leg and the ball bounced off his foot and trickled into the net.

The goal stood despite Karius’ heavy protests.

What a nightmare.

Daniel Sturridge sent a tweet directly in the aftermath that has caused quite a stir on Twitter.

He wrote: “Robbery mate!!! That's not supposed to stand that!!”

Sorry Danny, but you’re wrong.

BT Sport quickly got former referee Graham Poll to comment on the incident, and he announced it as a perfectly legitimate goal.

It’s understandable for Sturridge to be frustrated, but it wasn’t robbery at all.

His tweet attracted over 300 comments, and many were not very happy.
