Although Andre Iguodala never puts up eye-popping numbers anymore, he plays an extremely-important role on the Golden State Warriors.Serving as a member of the team’s famed “death lineup” consisting of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green, Iguodala’s ability to gladly defer on the offensive end while adding versatility on the defensive end has led to a massive amount of success over the years. Since the Warriors tend to switch on mostly every screen on defense, his athleticism comes in handy.Iguodala has missed the last three games of the series with a left leg contusion. The injury took place in the fourth quarter of Game 3 when he banged knees with James Harden. Golden State went 2-1 with him healthy. In his absence, Kevon Looney has started all three times while Nick Young has also seen some minutes off the bench. It’s worth mentioning that Patrick McCaw returned to the court after a lengthy injury in Game 6, but only played four minutes. He could also see some time moving forward if Iguodala's injury holds him out any longer.Speaking after Golden State’s incredible 115-86 comeback victory in Game 6, Warriors coach Steve Kerr made a revealing comment about Iguodala’s status leading up to Game 7 on Monday."We're operating under the assumption that he will not play, but he is literally day-to-day," Kerr said, per ESPN. "It's a bone bruise, there's not sort of a timetable, it's more just up to the individual and how he's feeling, and we don't really know. So we'll just keep taking it day by day and see what happens.”Judging by those words, it seems more likely than not that Iguodala sits out yet again. But, as seen in Game 6, the Warriors will still be deadly if they can knock down their perimeter shots.

Beyond the box score

Iguodala’s impact against the Rockets transcended the box score earlier in the series. Making life tough on both Chris Paul and James Harden, the athletic veteran’s defensive effort was astounding. In fact, in 41 matchups against both Paul and Harden in which he was the primary defender, he allowed just one made field goal.

Therefore, while he may not be one of Golden State’s consistent offensive threats, his defensive ability could certainly be a major asset. If Iguodala is able to return, he’d more than likely see a large number of minutes squaring off against Harden.

As seen earlier in the series, that wouldn’t be good news for Houston’s MVP candidate.
