Formula One has been an exciting sport to follow for the last few years, as we see more and more talented drivers staking their claim to become the best in the world.

Currently there is a great amount of talented racers breaking through and really beginning to make a name for themselves, such as Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas.

Despite all the good and exciting news coming out of the sport, there has also been claims which seem to cast a bit of cloud over the positivity.

Claims started to arise that a 'mysterious paddle' was seen poking out of a number of Ferrari's vehicles in recent races around the world.

It was reported that this paddle could be performance enhancing, and giving Ferrari an unfair competitive advantage over their rivals.

These accusations seemed to arise from a Mercedes engine man, who was before employed by Ferrari.

Ferrari had initially denied these rumours, but they refused to go away and it was reported that the FIA would monitor the vehicles in recent races in Baku and Barcelona.

The Formula One world waited in suspense, and wondered if Ferrari were actually attempting to cheat, and if they were, what would the sanctions be?

However, much to the surprise of many of those suspicious, the FIA have cleared up the rumours and deemed the Ferrari vehicles as 100% legal.

"We are now satisfied everything is in order," FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting told The Mail on Sunday, as per Sky Sports.

"The matter was exacerbated by unsubstantiated allegations that went through the paddock like wildfire.

"It came from a Ferrari engine man now at Mercedes, but his information would be the length of his gardening leave old." Whiting said, seeming to slightly dig at the person who created these rumours.

Whiting went on to state: "Some things in the data, we could not quite explain. Ferrari gave explanations which were not particularly convincing.

"We wanted to really get to the bottom of it and in Spain [two weekends ago], They took some measures to make sure we understood it more and that we were seeing things that we were happy with."

Fans of Mercedes will feel aggrieved, and fans of Ferrari will be relieved, but it is good news that Ferrari have not been in fact cheating and no punishments need to be made.

Both teams now need to forget about this incident and prepare for the upcoming races, as a busy summer of Formula One driving is on its way.
