After recent allegations that put the legality of certain vehicles into question, fans of F1 will be happy to hear that the FIA have announced the 2021 engine regulations will be updated by the end of next month, according to Autosport.

After the recent debate to whether Ferrari's vehicle was legal, which was recently put to bed by the head of the FIA, they have now chosen to confirm that the new regulations will come into place.

The main thing which is set to change, is the amount of staff which will need to be on stand.

This means teams will have to spend less, and decrease the general amount of expenditure by the competing teams.

Simpler aerodynamic rules and standardisation of some car components would facilitate a need for a smaller headcount.

Another key part of F1's planned 2021 overhaul is a budget cap, which is set to be $150million. These rules mean more money will be spent on the general quality and ability of the vehicles, instead of extra staff on board who may not even have anything to do.

In a recent meeting between bigwigs of the sport, it was suggested to teams that bigger organisations could eventually reach a reduced staffing figure over a few seasons from 2021, instead of immediately having to stick to a limit.

Many are happy about these new regulations, such as Mercedes boss Toto Wolff.

He said it was important that Liberty Media had acknowledged a cost cap is a process, not an event.

"This was a very good point," said Wolff.

"It needs to go over several years, and it needs to consider the various structures that are being put in place.'

"They are taking our feedback on board."

F1 is growing as a sport, and attracting more and more fans as their races get more and more exciting.

With champions such as Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso dominating in recent years, it will be interesting to see who else will challenge to become a Formula One champion.
