Who knows how different Saturday night’s Champions League final would have been had Mohamed Salah not suffered that cruel injury midway through the first half. The Egyptian forward, who has scored 44 goals in 52 games for the Reds this season, suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder after being dragged to the ground by Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.A visibly distraught Salah left the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium pitch in floods of tears, no doubt fearing that his World Cup dream was also over.Liverpool had started the match well in Kiev but the complexion of the game changed after their star man was forced off 15 minutes before half-time.Jurgen Klopp’s side eventually lost the match 3-1 - with goalkeeper Loris Karius committing two horrendous mistakes - meaning Madrid had wrapped up their third European Cup in as many seasons.Egyptians - as well as Liverpool fans, of course - have been eagerly awaiting news of their star’s condition today.Without Salah, it’s hard to imagine Egypt pulling up any trees this summer in a group containing hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

Mo Salah breaks his silence

However, Salah has now broken his silence via social media and it’s positive news for Egypt.

“It was a very tough night, but I'm a fighter,” Salah wrote in an emotional post on Twitter. “Despite the odds, I'm confident that I'll be in Russia to make you all proud. Your love and support will give me the strength I need.”

So, there you have it.

Salah has conceded that the odds are stacked against him, as things stand, but he’s determined to be in Russia this summer with his Egyptian teammates.

Good luck, Mo

After such a breathtaking season, it would be a huge shame if injury prevented Salah from playing in Russia this summer.

But if this tweet is anything to go by, he will do everything in his power to ensure he makes an appearance at the showpiece international tournament.

Egypt begin their 2018 World Cup campaign against Uruguay on June 15.

They are currently ranked as 200/1 outsiders to win the tournament.
