The Falcons offseason has been dominated by Matt Ryan's record breaking $150 million contract extension.

The veteran QB put pen to paper earlier this month on the biggest contract in NFL history that will see him earn $30 million a year over five years, with $100 million in guaranteed money.

Now that the franchise leader's future has been well and truly wrapped up though, owner Arthur Blank is turning his attention to the contract of another longtime cornerstone of Atlanta's offense; Julio Jones.

Jones hasn't been present thus far at offseason workouts amidst rumours that he wants to restructure his current deal.

The five-time Pro Bowler is three years into the five-year $71.25 million contract he inked in 2015 and is set to earn $12.9 million in 2018 with his base salary and signing bonus combined.

As many as 12 wideout's could exceed that number this season, and the fact that the Falcons are willing to renegotiate with their star receiver shows that they agree he's worth more than they're currently paying him.

Blank expressed last week at the league's annual owners meeting that he wanted Jones to remain in Atlanta for the duration of his career and that there was no panic around his desire to update his current terms.

"As I said about Matt Ryan, how I wanted him to be our quarterback for his entire career, Julio Jones will be our receiver for his entire career,"Blank told Jeff Schultz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "This is just a normal kind of discussion that takes place. We'll deal with it."

The good news for Falcons fans is that Jones shares this sentiment. In an interview with TMZ Sports Thursday, the 29-year-old made it clear that his holdout is not a sign of any discontent between himself and the organisation and that he wants to remain with the Falcons.

"I'm not going anywhere," the three-time All Pro selection said. "I love the team, I love the organization, I love everybody there. We're good."

"There's no story to be told. I'm just working, getting myself better. I'm just working on myself right now. That's all it is. There's no bad blood between me and the team or anything like that. It's just everybody on the outside trying to look in and destroy what we built there."

For all it's worth, Jones has never been an off field problem for the Falcons, and he's acted quickly to quash any rumours that may have begun swirling should his absence from team workouts extend.

Falcons head coach Dan Quinn revealed that he's been in regular contact with Jones though, and  he fully expects to arrive for the start of mini camp at the latest.

The former first round pick has been the model professional since arriving from Alabama in 2011 and has been one of the three best receivers in the NFL for an extended period now.

He certainly deserves to be paid like a top wideout, and it seems as though the Falcons will do everything they can to make that happen and retain his unique skillset on the perimeter for the rest of his career.
