To many, Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is the best shooter in NBA history.Known for his limitless range and remarkable efficiency on the offensive end, the two-time MVP has shown off all of his abilities over the past few seasons, captivating NBA fans in the process. In his Western Conference Finals series against the Houston Rockets, Curry is averaging 26.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists per contest and is arguably coming off of his best performance in the six games. In Game 6 on Saturday, he put up 29 points on 12-of-23 shooting and added five rebounds, six assists and three blocks.Curry’s three blocks were an indication that he was very active on the defensive end of the floor. Although he’s not known for his skills on that end of the court, he was able to make an impact in front of the home crowd. But, the blocks didn’t tell the entire story. Curry was ridiculously busy in Game 6 due to Golden State’s preference to switch on nearly every single pick-and-roll on defense. Since Houston ran a large number of pick-and-roll plays (especially with James Harden handling the ball), Curry found himself chasing a lot of red jerseys all night long.In fact, he ended up running 1.44 miles on defense alone, as pointed out by ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. According to Second Spectrum, it was a quarter mile more than any other Warriors defender and was the most he has run in any game all season (including the regular season).

A welcomed challenge

But, the point guard didn’t mind the increased activity. In fact, he appreciated it.

"You can get tired a little bit here and there during the game, but there's no excuse for not appreciating the moment," Curry said after the game. "I looked over at [Rockets forward] Trevor Ariza in the middle of the fourth quarter and we just both said to each other, 'This is fun; this is what you love about NBA basketball.' If you can't push through for 48 minutes in this type of environment, you don't love the game.”

Curry’s Game 6 performance as a whole was outstanding. He will look to repeat it on Monday in the decisive win-or-go-home contest. Unfortunately for the Rockets, keeping him very busy on defense doesn’t necessarily mean that he will let fatigue limit his ability to control the game from beyond the arc on the other end of the court.
