Gareth Bale's spectacular overhead kick was one of the greatest goals ever seen, while Loris Karius produced two gigantic errors in a second half horror show.
Another man who grabbed the headlines after the clash in Kiev was Sergio Ramos for his involvement in Mohamed Salah's unfortunate injury.
In trying to win the ball, Ramos caused Salah to land very awkwardly on his shoulder, which forced the Egyptian to be substituted off after only 30 minutes.
If angering the whole of Liverpool wasn't enough, Ramos was at it again on Sunday as he sent a pretty savage message to Real's neighbours Atletico Madrid.
Ramos' tweet to Salah
Even though Ramos tweeted his well wishes to Salah, as shown below, he received criticism from many corners of the football world following his tussle with Liverpool's main man.
Despite this, the Madrid captain was in fine spirits on Sunday evening as Los Blancos took to the streets of the capital to celebrate their 13th European Cup triumph.
As fans gathered at Cibeles, in the heart of Madrid, Ramos decided to bring Atletico, and in particular Juanfran, down a peg or two by orchestrating a chant.
Ramos' chant at Atleti and Juanfran
"We are going to sing a song, because sometimes some people forget...", the 32-year-old began, via Marca, before the players and entire staff then joined in.
Led by Ramos, they sang: "Let all the Indians (Atletico) know who is in charge in the capital."
Check out some of the scenes and moments from the celebrations below:
What was the reason for Ramos' chant?
Ramos' message was most definitely in response to what Juanfran did when Atletico celebrated their Europa League victory in Lyon earlier this month.
After Diego Simeone's men beat Marseille 3-0, the 33-year-old right-back loudly chanted, with the help of a megaphone: "Let the Vikings (Real) know who's boss in the capital."
Having reminded Juanfran and Real's bitter rivals who truly rules European football, Ramos' attention now turns to captaining Spain at the World Cup.
However, the 2018 UEFA Super Cup on August 15 will be the small matter of a Madrid derby, and with guys like Ramos and Diego Costa around, it's sure to be a fiery affair.
