The Cleveland Cavaliers have reached their fourth consecutive NBA Finals after overcoming the Boston Celtics in an intense Game 7 on Sunday night. The Cavs won a low-scoring affair 87-79 at TD Garden and have once again reclaimed the Eastern Conference championship.LeBron James played all 48 minutes and produced another outstanding performance to keep his incredible finals streak alive. He posted 35 points on 12-of-24 shooting, along with 15 rebounds, nine assists and two blocks. The King will now compete for the title for the eighth straight year as he continues his dominance in the east. It was a superhuman effort by the four-time MVP but the Cavaliers needed everything from him to end Boston's unbeaten home run in the playoffs. "It was asked of me tonight to play the whole game," he said after the game, per ESPN. "And I just tried to figure out how I can get through it."LeBron's heroic display led to tributes from fellow NBA stars on Twitter who were in awe of what he'd accomplished.

After a season full of turmoil, that included a major revamp of the roster at February's trade deadline with six players offloaded and four acquired, this is arguably seen as James' greatest achievement ever.

Cleveland finished with the number four seed and were on the brink of elimination in just the first round as they were taken to seven games by the Indiana Pacers.

They finished the regular season ranked 29th in defence and it seemed unlikely that they would make the finals again with their weakest squad in the last four years since their hometown star returned from Miami.

Throughout the conference finals series with the Celtics, LBJ's much-maligned supporting cast were non-existent on the road during their three defeats but they stepped up huge when it mattered most.

Jeff Green filled in impressively for the absent Kevin Love as he put up 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting.

J.R. Smith finally got going in the second half as he drained a trio of three-pointers and had 12 points. Tristan Thompson was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and contributed 10 points and nine rebounds.

They did just about enough to complement their superstar who was a force on both ends of the floor.

The three-time champion will now seek his fourth ring as the Cavs await the winners of the Western Conference with the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets preparing to do battle in a Game 7 of their own tonight.

The Wine and Gold will be the underdogs regardless of who they face but with the best player on the planet on their side, anything is possible.

"We have an opportunity to play for a championship," James said. "It doesn't matter what the story line is going to be, it doesn't matter if we're picked to win or not. I'm the wrong guy to ask. I just like to compete."

Game 1 of the finals will take place on Thursday night and the road to the Larry O'Brien trophy will once again have to go through LeBron James.
