Former WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has once again responded to Tyson Fury and is in no doubt on what the eventual outcome would be if the pair finally agree to go toe-to-toe.

Last week, it was Fury who made a bold claim by stating that he would not be inclined to fight Bellew as he feels he might seriously hurt the Liverpudlian.

Fury will make his return to the ring next week and despite being out of action for over two years, he believes Bellew - a more natural cruiserweight - would not be able to handle the power of his punch.

However, in a new interview with iFL TV, Bellew was asked if he had an answer to his compatriot’s statements, to which 'The Bomber' issued a firm response.

“Someone told me he said he doesn’t want to fight a cruiserweight yet he’s fighting a smaller cruiserweight than me? So it’s very funny. Oh was it a heartfelt warning (from Fury)?

“I love Tyson Fury he knows I do, but I would definitely punch him in the face with ten ounce gloves on, really hard.

“I would definitely punch him harder than Steve Cunningham did. We both know. We all know that.”

This is not the first time the duo have been going back and forth at each other and there have been a number of instances in the recent past when they have exchanged insults and engaged in trash talk.

"He's just seen what I just did to that last fella, no one has ever done that to him and I did.

"Everyone's going to say he's an old man. He's this, he's that but I just beat him up, I knocked him out. Who has ever put him on the floor like I did and just sat him down?"

Fury will face Sefer Seferi at the Manchester Arena next weekend, where Bellew's point will be put to the test.

It's true Seferi, has spent most of his career to date at cruiserweight and therefore goes into the fight as the big underdog. Failure to put on a convincing show from Fury's perspective, however, will only make Bellew more confident.

After back-to-back wins against David Haye, Bellew is considering all his options and remains open to all possibilities, be it in the next step in the heavyweights or a return to the cruiserweights.

Only time will time if the boxing faithful will get the chance to witness two British giants of the sport face off at some point in the future.
