Since Dana White attended Anthony Joshua’s fight against Joseph Parker in March, while Joshua admitted interest in meeting the UFC president, a rumour has been looming.

The rumour was that White has offered Joshua £350m for the opportunity to promote the world heavyweight champion.

The Watford-man is currently represented by Eddie Hearn, but despite Joshua’s fame in Britain, he isn’t on everyone's mind in America, which has a broader commercial reach.

The rumour has circulated long enough for White’s liking as he adressed the issue at the UFC Fight Night 130 post-fight press conference.

He said, according to The Express: “I never made him an offer, ever.

“I never made him an offer. We were supposed to meet. But we never talked money or we never did anything.”

White denied the rumour, but admitted there was some substance to the story and that they did meet. There was interest in some kind of deal.

“That isn’t even, really, the kind of deal I was looking to structure.

“Because when we talked, he had told me he was going to stay with Eddie Hearn. He told me he was going to stay with Eddie.

“He was never going to get rid of Eddie Hearn and that was never the plan. Like I was trying to move in and steal him from Hearn.”

White disclosed that he is interested in promoting Joshua in America.

“The deal was that I felt we could add a lot of value to them in the United States. So we could cut some kind of a deal for the US.

“He’s big in England, everybody knows who he is in England. And I have the machine to make him big in the United States. That was the plan.”

Joshua seems to edge closer to a fight with the WBC champion, and American, Deontay Wilder, and although a deal hasn’t been agreed, Wilder has indicated that a fight could materialise in the UK in September or in the US in November if an agreement can be reached.

If the fight lands on American soil, which would be Joshua’s first bout in America, White’s “machine” could be tempting for Joshua to use.

A fight between Joshua and Wilder would also put all four heavyweight belts on the line for the first time.
