It was a night of heartbreak for Mohamed Salah during Saturday's Champions League final. After such a brilliant debut season at Liverpool, the Egyptian had the opportunity to lift the club's sixth European crown and bolster his bid for the Ballon d'Or. In the end, though, it wasn't meant to be.Salah made a lively start to the game in Kiev, keeping Real Madrid on their toes alongside Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. However, his game came to a premature end during a contentious tackle with Sergio Ramos in the first-half.The Real Madrid defender brought Salah to the ground, injuring his shoulder and eventually necessitating his exit from the game.

Controversial Ramos-Salah incident

As time has passed, the general consensus is that Ramos' tackle was fair and there was no intention from the Spaniard to purposely injure or unnerve Liverpool's star player.

Andrew Robertson shared a very interesting opinion on the matter, noting: “I think it is just how he has landed but Ramos is quite clever, isn’t he?

“We are clutching at straws if we are saying that (was the reason Liverpool lost). It is unfortunate. Hopefully he’ll come back bigger and stronger."

European Judo Union tweets

It is still in doubt as to whether Salah will be fit for the World Cup, although a positive update from the Egyptian FA has kept hopes alive.

However, debate over the tackle hasn't ceased quite yet and a very unexpected tweet has gone viral.

The European Judo Union almost wracked up more 'likes' on their tweet about the Salah-Ramos tackle than they even have followers.

Writing around a meme on the challenge, they said Ramos was using 'Waki-gatame technique' to foul Salah and questioned why it was legal in football when it's illegal in Judo. Check it out:

Well, it's fair to say the tweet has earned them some publicity.

Of course, the comparison is a little unfair even if - obviously - Judo is a more physical and combative sport than football.

And for all their knowledge on martial arts, football fans won't exactly change their opinion on the tackle based on the EJU's post.

Besides, at least Ramos' post-match behaviour seemed to indicate innocence.

The Real Madrid captain penned on Twitter after the game: "Sometimes football shows you it's good side and other times the bad," he tweeted.

"Above all, we are fellow pros. Get well soon Salah. The future awaits you."
