Unai Emery has wasted no time in identifying the weakest area in Arsenal’s squad. While no signings have been confirmed just yet, the Gunners are reportedly closing in on deals to sign defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos. And with The Times reporting that Aaron Ramsey has been offered a new five-year contract, it’s clear that Emery has already studied Arsenal’s squad closely. The need for defensive reinforcements became apparent last season and Lichtsteiner and Papastathopoulos are unlikely to be the final additions to the back line.A new goalkeeper would also be welcomed by Arsenal fans. The task of returning Arsenal back to the top won’t be easy but Emery is taking the right steps by prioritising the defence. And there’s more exciting news on the way for the club’s supporters with reports emerging from France that Emery is set to raid his former club, Paris Saint-Germain.

Emery's first signing

According to L’Equipe, Emery is set to make PSG’s 17-year-old wonderkid Yacine Adli his first signing.

Adli is an attacking midfielder who has already played for France at Under-18 level and attracted interest from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The youngster will sign a three-year deal at the Emirates Stadium, with the option of a further two years, after rejecting the chance to stay at the Parc des Princes.

Arsenal supporters on Twitter have already started to do their research on Adli.

Clearly, YouTube searches for Yacine Adli are on the up.

He will find first-team opportunities limited for the immediate future but having the chance to learn from Mesut Ozil is exciting for any young player.

Watch: Adli's highlights

Adli, who was included in The Guardian’s list of the 60 best young talents in world football in 2017, is keen to continue his career under Emery.

Having been given the chance to train with PSG’s first team, Adli said of his development under the Spaniard: “It was a very good apprenticeship.

“I think I’ve become more mature, largely thanks to my integration into the adult game with the reserves, certain training sessions with the professionals.”

The Emery effect is in full swing, and that's great news for Arsenal.
