Unai Emery is set to make his first signing as Arsenal manager - although it’s not quite as high-profile as fans might have hoped.

However, that’s not to say it’s underwhelming by any means.

That’s because they’ve snapped up 17-year-old wonderkid Yacine Adli from Paris Saint-Germain.

Emery obviously knows all about Adil from his spell at the Parc des Princes and it’s believed Adil has signed a three-year deal, with an option of a further two-years.

While not every Gooner may have heard of the midfielder, he arrives at the Emirates with a growing reputation.

Something equally promising, it seems Adli turned down a lucrative contract offer to stay at PSG because he believes he has more chance of progressing as a player in north London.

That’s admirable.

Adli is an attacking midfielder and was voted PSG’s best young player last season.

He has also featured for France at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level, scoring 13 times in 33 caps.

While normally a central midfielder, it was his performances on the wing in the Under-17 World Cup that really impressed Arsenal.

He recorded five assists during that tournament and also captured the attention of both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich with his displays in the UEFA Youth League.

And Adli impressed so much at youth level last season that he actually made his PSG debut on the final day of the campaign.

Emery brought him on against Caen with seven minutes remaining during the 0-0 draw.

While he couldn’t influence the match too much, the 17-year-old certainly didn’t look out of place. The first thing Arsenal fans will notice is that he’s tall. Very tall.

And he appeared to dictate possession in midfield - something that is very impressive at such a young age.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM ADLI'S PSG DEBUT

Take a look at his highlights from that game:

ADLI ON HIS TIME AT PSG

Adli recently spoke of his time at PSG and believes spending time with the first-team at the club has benefited him greatly.

"It was a very good apprenticeship,” he said.

"I think I've become more mature, largely thanks to my integration into the adult game with the reserves, certain training sessions with the professionals.

"I've also improved technically, tactically thanks to David Hernandez, who I've watched a lot of videos with, which has really helped me.

"But I think there are still some aspects I can improve. I'm aiming higher, so I'm full of things that can make me better."
