Safe to say Liverpool have started this summer transfer window with a bang following the £44 million capture of Monaco's Fabinho.RB Leipzig's Naby Keita is also due to arrive on July 1 in a move that will see Jurgen Klopp's midfield options increase and improve considerably.Emre Can is on the brink of joining Juventus, meaning Klopp will have Fabinho, Keita, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum to choose from.Having such depth in the middle of the park is an exciting prospect for Liverpool as they bid to challenge for the Premier League next season.Defensive reinforcements are also needed, yet the next man on Klopp's summer wish-list is Lyon's Nabil Fekir.Fekir has been strongly linked with a £50 million move to Anfield in recent weeks, though the Frenchman insists a deal is nowhere near close at this stage."I'm not close to Liverpool," said Fekir last week. "It's true that there are discussions with several clubs. As I said, I will take the time to think.

FEKIR A WANTED MAN

"It does not matter if I sign or not before the World Cup. As I said, I leave time to do things. He (Jean-Michel Aulas) knows my desires, and we'll talk about all of this in the next few days."

Lyon President Aulas has since backed up Fekir's claims over his future and added that any deal will NOT be completed before this summer's World Cup in Russia.

However, there is still reason for Liverpool fans to be very optimistic.

According to L'Equipe and French football journalist Erik Bielderman, Fekir to Liverpool is extremely likely to happen and the Reds are his first choice.

"We do believe that Fekir to Liverpool is going to happen," wrote Bielderman, per the reliable Liverpool source @DaveOCKOP.

"I'm not going to tell you it’s going to happen on a very short basis but it should because it seems quite obvious from the Lyon camp and the Fekir camp, Liverpool is the first choice."

Fekir is widely regarded as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left Liverpool for Barcelona in January for £142 million.

It would be interesting to see how Klopp would incorporate the 24-year-old into his starting XI, but it's expected he would play in an advanced midfield role behind the usual front three.
