Zinedine Zidane just loves going out in style, doesn’t he?

His final act as a player was in the World Cup final for France against Italy. Zizou was sent off for a crazy headbutt on Marco Materazzi, having scored an outrageous dinked penalty earlier in the match.

Unfortunately, he didn’t get his hands on the World Cup that night with Italy eventually triumphing on penalties.

But Zidane’s exit as manager of Real Madrid is equally as spectacular.

Just days after leading Real to their third consecutive Champions League trophy, the Frenchman shockingly announced he will be resigning.

"This is the right moment for everyone," he said in a news conference. "It might seem a bit strange, but it had to be done for the good of everyone - the players, the club and myself.

"This team must keep winning and it needs a change after three years, another voice, another method of working."

It makes sense.

How do you better winning three Champions League trophies? You simply can’t.

But who will replace Zidane as Real boss?

Well, whoever it is is facing a very tough task, that’s for sure.

But according to Spanish outlet Sport, the favourite is Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine recently signed a new deal at White Hart Lane and Tottenham supporters will be confident that will keep him in north London.

However, Sport's report claims he has an escape clause if Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid come calling.

And it’s believed that Florentino Perez sees Pochettino as a future Madrid manager one day.

Whether Pochettino feels it’s the right time to swap the white of Spurs for the white of Madrid is another matter altogether…
