Brock Lesnar's future is one of the most interesting cases in both the worlds of mixed martial arts (MMA) and professional wrestling.

Lesnar is currently the Universal Champion in the WWE and was initially expected to drop the strap to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 34 this past April in New Orleans.

Instead, Lesnar successfully retained the title and nobody knows what's coming next for the Universal crown.

Potential UFC Return

In recent months there have been rumors going around indicating that Lesnar is considering a return to the UFC and will be fighting again.

Many speculate it could be for a super fight against former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, who called Lesnar out after his victory over Daniel Cormier for the 205-pound title last year.

This was recently a topic of discussion in the latest edition of Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Meltzer noted that Lesnar is currently not expected to defend his Universal Title at either the Money In The Bank (MITB) or Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) events.

Instead, the plan is to have Lesnar return at SummerSlam to defend his title. His is slated to headline the show, but that isn't set in stone at the moment. It's also unknown who his opponent will be.

Drug Testing

As for a possible return to the UFC, Meltzer said that if Lesnar does return to fighting that a target date of the promotion's New Year's Eve card would be the plan.

Before he's eligible to fight, however, Lesnar must present six months worth of clean drug tests. For this, Lesnar must re-enter the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug testing pool before June 30th.

If Lesnar doesn't re-join the drug testing pool by June 30th then an UFC return anytime soon is highly unlikely.

This would mean that Lesnar would be sticking with the WWE for the foreseeable future, or he could turn both companies against each other and leverage for the biggest deal possible.

Lesnar is in high demand in the UFC, as their biggest stars such as Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones, and Conor McGregor are not fighting regularly any longer.

It should be interesting to see how this entire situation shakes out with Lesnar, and what becomes of the Universal Title.
