There has been a wave of optimism round Arsenal after Unai Emery's appointment as manager.

That was a feeling shared by Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidas, who claimed last month that he was ecstatic that Emery agreed to become Arsene Wenger's successor.

“I could not possibly feel better about this appointment," he said.

"And the feeling that we have between each other - and we’ve spent a lot of time over the last few days together — is I feel better and better about it by the hour."

Emery will have a tough task getting the club back to whether they want to be.

The Gunners were once perennial Champions league qualifiers, but they've failed to finish in the Premier League top four for the last two seasons.

They even finished a mammoth 37 points behind this season's winners, Manchester City.

But it seems Emery is doing everything in his power to get Arsenal back to where they belong.

The Spaniard is being bold with his transfers, and recent developments are very exciting for the club.

According to Sport, Sven Mislintat has been in touch with Barcelona in regards to the signing of Ousmane Dembele.

The report does not clarify whether it was a loan move or a permanent transfer that is being discussed, but considering Arsenal only have £50 million to spend this summer, a loan deal seems more likely.

Sport go on to state that Dembele is aware of the interest from Arsenal, but is fully concentrated on the World Cup for the time being.

Dembele has been linked with Arsenal already this summer, but the fact the Gunners have now made contact with Barcelona is very exciting for fans of the north London club.

The French winger is one of the most talented forwards in world football and would improve almost every team in world football.

If he agrees to the move, Arsenal could field a front four of Mesut Ozil, Dembele, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

That is enough to scare any side around the world.

But Even if Emery does not get his man, the fact that the club are attempting to sign only the very best players is a huge sign of intent from the newly appointed manager.
