There was a ton of controversy around Darren Till's victory over Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson last weekend in Liverpool.

The fight was supposed to be in the welterweight division, however, Till failed to make weight and was forced to surrender 30 percent of his pure to Thompson as a result.

Fans were upset that the Englishman missed weight, as the trend continues of fighters missing weight going on to win their fights.

Dangers Of Cutting Weight

One thing some people fail to talk about though are the dangers behind weight cutting. Fighters around the world, not in the UFC, have died in the process of weight cutting.

The dehydration that these fighters put themselves in is ridiculous and can be extremely detrimental to their health.

The Video

Earlier this week a video surfaced in which Till's weight cut was documented. It showcased the sheer horror that fighters go through when cutting weight.

Till looked extremely miserable during the process and had to be dragged to some places because of how exhausted he was.

In the middle of his cut, he got an emergency call from a family member that forced him to go to the hospital.

He later returned to continue cutting weight, but it wasn't enough time and Till didn't hit his mark when he got on the scale:

After seeing the events that transpired on the video, however, it looks like Till's corner could be getting some punishment coming their way.

Backlash

In the video Till loses his vision during the weight cut, but doesn't stop trying to cut the weight. Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) head Mike Mazzulli recently expressed his frustrations on the matter.

Here's what he had to say (quotes via MMA Mania):

“They should suspend those corner people that tried to help him cut that kind of weight, first of all,” Mazzulli told MMA Junkie.

“They think it’s okay to do what they did to that kid? They’re going to get him killed. Right now, I am so upset at this whole industry.”

Despite Till missing weight, he went on to win the fight against Thompson and has since shot up several spots in the official rankings and is now the No. 2-ranked welterweight in the UFC.

It should be interesting to see if any punishment comes Till's corner's way, and what's next for the Englishman inside the Octagon.
