Despite their season ending in disappointment, there is still plenty of reasons to be optimistic for Liverpool fans going into the summer.
The Reds were able to defy all expectations in the Champions League with their run to the final.
Jurgen Klopp’s side also finished in the top four in the Premier League, securing their place in next season’s elite club competition.
A number of players have stood out for the Reds, while some flattered to deceive.
But how exactly did Liverpool supporters rank their players over the course of the season?
Reds supporters have been voting throughout the course of the season after every game, rating players out of 10.
Fans have given scores to 22 of their players, with an average of 7.5 given to the highest ranked player, and 5.6 to the worst.
The results make for interesting reading indeed…
HOW THEY RANKED OUT OF 10:
1) Mohamed Salah – 7.5
2) Andy Robertson – 7.2
3) Virgil van Dijk – 7.2
4) Roberto Firmino – 7.0
5) Philippe Coutinho – 7.0
6) Sadio Mane – 6.8
7) James Milner – 6.5
8) Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6.4
9) Dejan Lovren – 6.3
10) Loris Karius – 6.3
11) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.2
12) Jordan Henderson – 6.1
13) Gini Wijnaldum – 6.1
14) Ragnar Klavan – 6.0
15) Joe Gomez – 6.0
16) Danny Ings – 5.9
17) Adam Lallana – 5.8
18) Emre Can – 5.8
19) Dominic Solanke – 5.8
20) Joel Matip – 5.8
21) Alberto Moreno – 5.7
22) Simon Mignolet – 5.6
The fact that Salah topped this list was no surprise at all. What is surprising, though, is that he only finished with a 7.5 rating.
There is also a shock in the top five as Robertson has been ranked Liverpool’s second best player over the course of the season.
Many would think that Mane, Firmino and Van Dijk would finish in front of the Scot.
Lovren being ranked in ninth could also be considered a shock.
The Croat has been the target of criticism from Liverpool fans across the season, so it’s surprising to see him finish so high.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will also feel hard done by with his rating.
The Englishman did suffer a slow start to life on Merseyside, but was on fire before his injury against Roma in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The fact that Karius and Lovren have been rated higher than him is almost laughable.
It’s also worth noting that Coutinho finished in the top five, in front of Mane.
Unfortunately for Mignolet, he was the unlucky man to be rated bottom of the pile, with Moreno and Matip ranked marginally higher.
